I suspect you are talking about Jack's new 5-speed, which needs guide seals unless Dave H did them. I know when I drove the car (shortly before he sold it) it needed them. When I followed him, it smoked both on extended idle and while decelerating. If that's not the car, then onto this:
Yes, Auto cars shut off fuel while decelerating, I believe down to 1400 RPM. No, it really doesn't make sense that it smokes with the auto ECU and not the 5-speed. The kearning curve for the ECU is very short, on the order of warmup plus about 30 seconds. Either way, what was the reasoning for swapping in the auto ecu?
