[V8] smoking v8 on decelleration

... there is no way that the ECU or the software running in it can influence
the engine burning oil ... 

In my extensive experience with oil burning PT engines I know that the
smoking behavior can come and go without changing anything.  

I don't think I'd suspect an FPR for smoking on decel either.  Rings and
valves are possibilities as you state, and the other suspicion I have is
liquid oil sucked into the engine via the crankcase ventilation system.

All this  talk about smoke on decelleration has got me perplexed....i took
my 1990 v8 3.6 auto off the road for that very reason and had a few
computers kicking around .....could this be my problem....i had originally
thought it was either bad valve seals or a leaking fuel pressure
regulator...
any advice greatly appreciated
