[V8] Lowering thought

I'd say try one first.  My '90 V8 was lowered by the previous owner.
While I like the looks (the wheels fill the wheel wells perfectly),
I'm not crazy about the ride. I live in NH, where having quattro is
nice. But being a winter-state, frost heaves abound in the spring.
The front end bottoms out and scrapes going over some of those frost
heaves. Not good.

If you insist on lowering your car, I'd look for a set of lowering
springs, rather than just cutting coils.
