[V8] C4 100 -- v8 interchange, and Front CV questions.

Just an FYI for those of you not in the know. Even if the complete axles of correct fit for the V8,which I doubt they are, I would steer clear of any complete axle sold as new through an auto part store. These are Chinese junk, and are not the same O.E. quality. We see allot of these axles come into the shop for rebuilds that have broken C.V. housings. Upon further inspection, it appears the c.v.'s are not hardened all the way through.Your best bet is to have your original rebuilt (reground +larger bearings) or pay Audi the $800-900 bucks for a new o.e. So consider yourselves warned. BTW , v8 cv's are the same as c4 bodied cars.

FYI, my buddy's shop is the only one that I know of in the NE area that still rebuilds half shafts/drive shafts ect (also the same shop that built my custom one off single piece drive shaft for my v8) . Most have closed up shop do to these cheap "new" Chinese half shafts.

I was having trouble finding an online source fore them as well until it
suddenly occurred to me to try the local auto parts stores. It turns out
O'Reilly and Napa both have complete half shafts for $60 (after core
charge).

O'Reilly:
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/search/CV+Half+Shaft+!s!+Axle+Shaft/01424/C0362.oap?make=Audi&model=V8+Quattro&year=1990&vi=1009426
Napa:
http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Detail.aspx?A=NMD952163_0172982838&An=599001+599999+101990+109999+50004+59999+2004040+2999999+12811#

What I think is funny is that O'Reilly lists two different manufacturers
(Master Pro and Cardone) and Napa lists a third (MaxDrive), but all three
have identical pictures.

Only the Master Pro and MaxDrive half shafts have prices, but O'Reilly is
supposed to call me back in the morning with a price for the Cardone half
shaft. I'm not sure what the difference is between any of them, but I'd
prefer Cardone just because I've heard of them before.
