[V8] Why does it have to be red?

My A4 has been acting up (no-start with 6 OBD-II error codes,
all related to open injector circuits).  So weighing my options,
I start window shopping, or rather shopping Craigslist.  The
A6 2.7Ts are tempting. But so is an A6 4.2L, and it's not a
big step to an A8, and it's not much bigger to an S8.  But
in wishing and dreaming, I came across a site which had an
'01 A6 2.7T with lots of upgrades for short money.
