Hello everyone
Sorry...i don't know how that got posted ...i was not done...??
The car is actually a 97 A6 2.8...here is what i am up against.
There are no codes from the v-a-g....and i just put in a new computer.
Car starts right up cold no problem and will not stall until you shut it down
but i can crank until i kill the battery if the motor is hot .
fuel pressure is the normal 55lbs @ cranking but the only way to get it to fire when hot is to clamp a visegrip on the fuel supply line....i have also tried disconnecting  the supply and that works but the engine will only run until it empties the fuel rail.
it also seems to rev better if i disconnect the purge valve that is hooked to the throttle body..
I am @ a point where i suspect the fuel pressure regulator....would that do this?
Sorry again for the previous post.....any ideas
Oh ...I do own a 3.6 V8 and she's running fine for the most part.

Fuel pressure 55 lbs
No codes ( brand new computer)
car will only start if the main fuel rail is disconnected
