[V8] need v8 ac compressor- dead or alive

Wouldn't this simply be running the clutch around and around without ever
engaging the compressor internals?  Seems you could just leave it as is and
disconnect anything that would make the clutch engage.  Or do I just not
understand the manner in which the clutch functions?  I'd think it would
mechanically default to disengaged.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the compressor needs  
the oil in the lines to lubricate itself.  If it doesn't, let's hear  
it, so I can stop pondering the mock up of the pulley that I've been  
planning on putting in when my compressor dies.....Tom
