[V8] ... and being constructive

These emails sniping back and forth are a joke. No one "owes" anything to
the list. Everyone contributes as much as they can or want to, some more,
some less, and the reason is generally unknown. For some it's time
contraints, but there likely are as many reasons as there are list members.
Regardless, no one is owed anything, not a response, not a guaranteed
solution. As soon as you start expecting such, you are going to be
disappointed. Blaming others for not giving back what you expect they
should is waste if everyone's time and I'd rather not hear about it. I
check the forums and have little patience for the general lack of content in
the majority of the posts, the chest-pounding in most of the ones that have
any substance, and the overgrown and in many case, just plain stupid,
"sigs". I'll stick with the audifans mailing list... a "forum" in which
taking some time to compose a cogent response is what makes the level of
information here far better overall than any I've found in any hit-and-run
forum. I'm speaking from a point of view of 15 years of list membership
which has supported my Audi habit to the tune of 10 or so Audis, which would
have been impossilbe without some support. Have I gotten answers every time
I asked? No. Did I feel a little slighted sometimes, maybe. Have all the
answers I did received been solid solutions? No. But there's nothing that
promises otherwise. A person's disappointment is a direct function of his
expectations.

To steal part of Jack's Subject line .
I must say there's a bit of chest beating on every side of this one . not
sure why it is raising its head while the weather is still good, this sort
of crap usually surfaces in the dead of winter.
I wouldn't know what happens on the e-zine 'cause I don't even think to go
there . and what I read convinces me that it has been a wise move . while
I've heard some say that the audifans lists are a bunch of old fogeys, the
reason I choose to subscribe and do a little here and there to help out is
the good signal to noise ratio . something I'd like to retain.
So . let's try to stick to the old adage . if you can't say anything
constructive, don't say anything at all.
Thanks!
