Hey Dave, I was able to see your pics yesterday briefly, but have had  
no luck since.  I do envy that shiny steering rack and hoses.  That  
Vespa's a winner also.   If I'm not mistaken, those burn marks are  
from the metallic bits in the disk burning(from slipping) and it  
looked from the pic that there were voids in the disk itself from  
those missing pieces?  I've got 162K on my original clutch, and since  
I'm soon gonna do the whole suspension/rack/hose project next on my  
list, I might just be looking at my clutch soon also.  I had no  
intention of messing with my clutch till I had to, but seeing that  
rack/hoses/motor mounts there without the motor, makes me think  
twice.  My "not having any experience with a V8 clutch" guess says  
that the spring failure (pressure plate fingers not right) was the  
cause of everything.  I'd send pics of that to Sachs and see if they  
might not want to give you a new one.  Believe Sachs/Boge was OEM and  
people have had them go 250K on the original.  Good luck with
