I have a brand NEW Audi V8 right headlight for sale, if anyone wants a clear
lens.

I also saved this headlight setup. I didn't try it. I use halogen bulbs in my highs
and HID in my lows I adjusted/lowered my headlights so the highs illuminate
right in front and to the right. The Highs and Lows combine for total illumination
when no one is approaching. Here is the old listing~

I am in need of the instructions for wiring my high beams, low beams and fog

The easy part is getting the front fog lights turned on. I wanted to be
able to turn on the fog lights without turning on the headlights. The
solution is to remove the fog light relay (#7 in fuse/relay panel) and
install a jumper between contacts 30 and 87. With the jumper installed, the
fog lights can be switched on whenever the ignition switch is in the "run"
position.

To get the low beams on with the high beams on, I think it will take a relay
(or two). What I think I would do is insert a double throw relay contact in
both of the Yellow (right) and Yellow/Black (left) low beam light wires. I
would wire the common contact to headlight, the "normally closed" contact to
the Front Lamp Control Unit and the "normally open" contacts the battery. I
would tap onto either of the high beam wires (white or white/black) and use
that to drive the relay coil. The other end of the relay coil would be
grounded.

A wire diagram would look something like (if our ASCII graphics translate OK):

                                            NC _____________ Front Lamp
Control Unit (yellow)
Yellow /
Low Beam socket________/ ___________10 Amp Fuse______ Battery
                                                    NO

                                            NC _____________ Front Lamp
Control Unit (yellow/black)
Yellow/Black /
Low Beam socket________/ ___________10 Amp Fuse_____ Battery
                                                    NO

High Beam Socket______________________Fuse S8 or S9
                                        |
                                        |______/\/\/\/\/\/\________Chassis
Ground
                                                        Relay
                                                         Coil

If you cannot find a two pole double throw relay, you could use two single
pole, double throw relays.

I have intentionally not connected the battery (thru relay contact) to the
Front Light Control Unit because I don't know what would happen if you
applied 12 volts to the outputs. Probably nothing but I bet it is expensive
to replace if it did get damaged.

I have not taken the time to figure out where to pickup the battery
connection but my first thoughts are with the jump start terminal.

I can sketch this mod up and if anyone wants to send me thier fax number, I
will fax the sketch to them.

Just a quick note to say "Thank You" to Igor Kessel and Al Powell for their
Low Beam Headlight Warning display solutions. I ended up using Al's
solution, since I didn't have a spare relay to work from and it worked just
as promised for the V8. On the V8 the relay is located under the pass
footwell.

How to get to relay for V8:

1. Remove pass side (US) insulated base carpet. Put seat all they way back.

2. Remove fuse panel carpet on right side of pass footwell (unscrew two
knurled knobs holding carpeted panel in place.

3. Remove two screws attaching center console carpet to relay box (where
your passenger's feet would be) and pull carpeted panel by center console
downward and away from tunnel.

4. Look over diagrams on relay box. One is labeled lamp warning, I believe
(no. 7). The V8 has a unique way of cramming all its relays through sliding
trays which you will see shortly. Remove two more screws (one at top of
cover, the other on right bottom, and remove.

5. Slide out(pull) top (in my case) shelf as indicated by relay diagram, so
that relay tops are facing you. The "culprit is marked "281" aka 443 919
469B. Remove.

6. Take four spade connectors(blue ones if insulated at the hardware store)
and six inches of 14 ga. wiring, cut to make two 3" pcs. and crimp
corresponding spade connectors . I removed spade insulation for better
crimping and then put heatshrink tubing on exposed surfaces. Don't know how
diagram will come out, but here's how wires plugged into my relay socket (\
and / indicating 3" 14 ga wires, == and II indicating spade connector
locations):

           56bL1
          ====
                   \
   II 56bR II 56bL
   II II
        \
             II
             II 56bR1

Very logical, but remember, always double check before testing. Test and
reassemble minus relay. Any additional questions, check out Igor's earlier
post or Al Powell's response from January 1, 1997 entitled "Keeper:
 Defeating Headlight Warning."
