Ok, a couple of thoughts from 30 years of automotive lighting, and 2 months of trying to solve exactly what Roger is speaking to on the polyC chebby lighting. First, the easy solution Roger = ******If you can retrofit the 200mm rectangulars, do it!***** When I looked at doing this exact retrofit to my parents recently acquired 2002 Roadtrek RV with the crappy PC headlights, the whole front end needed to be changed for this. Bummer. IMO, the simple 200mm euro conversion is absolutely the best lighting I've done on any vehicle. I did the conversion on my old 4Runner turbo and my old GLH turbo, and have compared every lighting mod to them since:

For P-C chebby lenses, there is no upgrade to the crappy lenses IMO. Either convert to 200mm or just buy aux drivings. I'm partial to the 195's over the 175's, pic'd here in my 81 open class rally car...

The bi-oscars or the piaa hi/lo are good too. For sourcing, I like to give the business to either Daniel Stern, or for a more comprehensive offering, try these guys:

To HID. I install a lot of them for folks that insist.... But I find them to be over-rated, and the 'current' answer to freeing up alternator capacity for more interior amp sucking gizmos. Euro-conversions with HIR bulbs gives a better depth perception and better light output than most HID. And btw, I buy HIR bulbs from a John Deere tractor dealer for less than I can get them online. For more on the 'dark side' of HID I speak to, Nick's Daniel Stern reference is a good read, and might save a few from jumping on HID so quickly:

IMO/E, halogen gets a bad rap because of the crappy US DOT lense, more than it does the bulb or the gas burned. A 30 year old Hella Rallye 2000 with a 100w bulb will stand up to any HID driving light even today. Back to v8 content: IMO, the v8 headlights are the best of the crappy DOT lenses of the day, and the high beam is actually quite good. However, when I installed the euros in my v8 with 55/65 H4 and 100w h3 (inner highs), the light pattern on low or high was significantly better than the US lights. And some 200/v8 trivia: The internals to the v8 and 200 euros are identical/interchangeable, the only difference is the housing and lense.

HTH, IMO/E, and my .02 arbitraged thru a xenon charged sabre

Anybody interested in reading up, here are a number of usefull sites, some
cover the same stuff. Daniel sterns is a good one for sure. The hir
website is about the best source for getting the bulbs (nissan sells them
for 120 or so a pop (: ) and has a few links showing output comparisons.

Driving lights with 3000k hids or selective yellow bulbs may be kinda nice
on a truck going through hills for cheap honestly. But for oem I would
just clean the housings up and throw good bulbs and a harness kit in and be
done with it.
