Well all this talk about options got me to dig into the files....My
Lago car came with every piece of paperwork related to the car since
day 1, including the original "bill of lading".....The only thing in
the "extras" column was a "gas guzzler" tax of $1050. That pushed
the "port of entry(NM)" price from 47,450 to 48,835. It also says to
see a 1990 audi brochure for complete features and "available
options". It calls the interior trim "Burl Walnut".
It lists 11-17city/15-21 hwy mileage, which even the chipped 5-speed
get's 21. Lago has posted 25 being careful on flat ground in the
desert.
I'd have to say that the most common interior(at least on the west
coast) is the Platinum grey. Seen maybe 10 of the platinum/5 black.
Both the Lago, and 5-speed have the Platinum sport seats(no charge
according to the BOL). Maybe Comfort was an option you could pay
for?....Both the ex- Pearl car(93) and the parts car (90) have
comfort seats in black. In fact, in 11 years now, I've only seen 1
other color, and it was a cream color, which I didn't really care
for. It was in a pearl 91 auto w/ pearl rims....One observation is
that the Comfort seats don't seem to hold up as well as the
Sports....Guessing that the BBS was one other option(15 only")....I
was surprised that I didn't have the factory brochure that would have
listed any options......It could be in here....it's a few inches thick.
One thing I did find was an "Insert for Audi
Maintenance-1990-1991.....and under the Every 30K
section.........Change ATF(Audi V8 only)! Fine print also says
"During this time the pan and STRAINER(didn't call it a filter)
should be CLEANED and gasket replaced." Every 30K. First time I've
seen this ever. Maybe they gave it to him after they had to eat the
expensive tranny @ 45K?....I know of no "Lang" models in the states,
and I've yet to see anything that resembles a blue/white interior/
anything cloth. I do know that there's(was) a stock '89, and a '90 5-
speed in Vancouver,Canada, but always thought the '91 was the only
year for us.....Tom
