If the whole unit could be extracted just by undoing the 3 pulley  
bolts, I'd be golden. They're easy to undo, but I'd love to hear if  
someone has done it.
I haven't seen Seamus's suggestion yet as I only get the digest  
version, but I'm guessing he's advocating using the belt to hold the  
pulley?

Yes, I already have the electric fan pulled away.

Ingo, why don't you think the noise is the viscous fan? If it's not  
that, the only thing left in the area is the belt tensioning roller.
