Best bet is to open the drivers door and look inside the rubber boot.
I'll bet some of the wires inside are broken. It's a common problem on
old Audis.  You can splice the wires. I recommend butt connectors with
1-foot of wire added in the middle, then tuck the butt connectors into
the door and jamb, leaving fresh wire in the rubber boot.
