Be happy they did something. For the previous model diesels, with the
Stanadyn pump, GM only admitted there "may" be a problem after 10 years,
in a slimy CYA letter. I exported a bunch of these at the time, and
every one has been through about 4 pumps, at least. There was something
like 6 pump revisions to fix defects, defects GM would never admit but
everyone knew. Soft ceramic seals, bad rubber seals, bad optic sensors,
bad PMD's, FSD's, resistors and the list went on. At $1500 a pop, it got
expensive, fast.
Won't even go into the BS that is their POS Impala et al with the known
defective Body Control Module, which, surprise, they won't own up to
either. I could go into a few other GM gems, but this is an Audi list.
I wouldn't want a POS GM anything ever again, even for free. They should
have let the market do it's thing, this is one company that deserved to
go under or split up and run by someone else. Sad the point it reached
when you remember it's glory decades.
BCNU,
Don't ever take a fence down until you know the reason it was put up.
