... agree completely Tony, but I can't say as I've read confirmation of "and
you have power on one of those terminals" at the fuse box ...
I'd be a bit surprised to hear a wire would fail in the middle of a run
after operating for 20 years ... I'd be most suspicious of the interface at
a connector.
My favorite way of verifying fuel pump function is to remove the cover from
the FP relay and manually activating the armature ... you can hear the pump
run from inside the car when the engine isn't running.
OBTW ... to report back on my fuel no start problem ... I opened up the tank
and found the pump still locked in place ... with an empty tank! I really
need to fix that power pin to the cluster which makes the fuel gauge flaky!

Jeff, defintely a broken wire or bad connection between the FP relay and the
FP itself. You can either run a new one, or chase down the problem on the
old one. You can continue checking other things, but the problem is right
there in front of you. Just have to get to the bottom of that. If you jumper
the two terminals that form a "T" where the relay goes, and the pump doesn't
run, and you have power on one of those terminals, there is an issue to the
pump. Plain and simple as that.
