Check the nuts on the end of the front swaybar. If they come loose, the 
control arm, and therefore the tire, goes backward. It will damage the 
fender.

Check all the bushings in the suspension, especially the rear upper control 
arms (that look more like tie rods).

Good idea to change the trans fluid. As you mentioned, the TB is a big deal. 
If it goes, that's a big hole in the pocketbook!!
