[V8] the next problem

Well - I finally got the newly rebuilt rack back in and the next day,
driving in traffic, I went to downshift and could not get the shifter to
move. It appears that the clutch is just barely beginning to release with
the pedal to the floor. It will idle in gear with the clutch down but I
cannot shift because of the pressure on the transmission. I had to make a
painful drive home by shutting off the motor at stops, starting in gear
and shifting without a clutch. All things I am sure I will have to pay
for in the future.
What I (think I) know so far:
-> no hydraulic leaks, fluid level is OK
-> clutch pedal is not cracked or broken
-> pedal feel seems more or less normal - maybe a little soft
clutch was replaced about 80K miles ago, along with the slave cylinder. I
have not noticed anything weird up till the time it failed, and when it
failed, there was no "snap" or noise or anything - it just stopped
working.
any ideas ?????????????????
Dave
