[V8] UFO brake pads

So, I got a chance to pull the wheels off today, and the rotors look
smooth. I re-verified the mileage, and the pads and rotors only have
30K on them. I measured the pads, and therein lies the question.
The book says "pad thickness new 12mm/max wear 2mm....then says "when
brake pad thickness, including backing plate is 7mm, pads should be
replaced".

[I take that to mean that the friction "pad" part is 12mm thick new,
and can wear down to 2mm?]

I measured all of them(front) and the pad thickness was
7.8/6.7....6.3/7.6(left to right). Then it says..."when pad
thickness including backing plate is 7mm...replace"......Mine were
12.4/11.2...10.8/11.2. Since I just recently bought my first real
caliper when I did the timing belt, this is the first time in my life
I think that I've ever actually measured a brake pad. I saw nothing
obvious that would make that nasty growl like rivets wearing thru the
pads and grinding on the rotors....The wires were all replaced with
the rotors/pads, and there's no brake light happening. Noise only
happens when pressing harder on the brakes and coming to a slow
stop. Everything looks pretty happy to me, just wanted to make sure
I was interpreting the book correctly/make sure the now rare rotors
weren't getting trashed. Maybe there's a bit of something stuck
under one of the pads?....Regardless, I'll probably get a set of pads
(or 3) while I'm thinking about it and before they get rare
also....Still stop quick and smooth......Sincerely, Tom
