[V8] V8 Q Steering rack boot

Does anyone have knowledge and tips for the repair/replacement of the
steering rack boot? Any helpful hints to make this task easier would be
appreciated.

 

Also, would like information on the rectangular box the accelerator cable
passes through on the engine side of the firewall.

The plastic cover is loose and is extremely hard to push back into place.I
believe it is a spring behind/within the plastic cover.
