[V8] problems in ignition assy?

I have had intermittent problems starting my 1990 v8. 

The problem seems to be a pesky ignition. I have to push in on the key and also at the same time, push the key a little bit toward the dash and have to try it a few times before it will start. Sometimes i have to remove key and try this over about 2 or 3 times before it starts. 
 I was thinking of spraying some contact cleaner on the key and perhaps in the ignition too.  The problem is getting worse and happening more frequently. 
 Any ideas?
