I don't think you would want convert 100/. There are DIY kits out there and company's also. If the V8 is lower miles might be worth it and maintenance up to date. I was thinking of converting my wifes Passat. 
The reason you have to have gasoline is that the compressed NG when changing to non-compressed freezes. The valving is warmed up using the heater core routing hoses. I think you always start with gas and then it switches to NG/CNG. 
Of course what is the weak spot on an old V8 and hard to replace? The heater core! Audi Gods strike again.

Turns out the conversion is illegal under EPA regulations.


Can't tamper with/remove/modify ANY emissions equipment on ANY street driven car.


Probably wouldn't get you in trouble if you did an electric car conversion because they have NO 
emissions, but LP/CNG/propane/whatever conversions definitely DO fall under the "benevolent" gaze of 
the EPA.


Phooey.


Unless there's a loophole I've missed, this game is over.
