(I do find it odd that all four speakers would go south at the same time.
Impossible? No. Strange? Yes.)

The problem is with your speakers and not the radio. There is information on
the net on how to replace the capacitors, I've done it with some success (it
worked afterwards and the volume increased to normal levels) if you would
like I will dig up the info. Sometimes you can find the speaker cards on
ebay form about 8O dollars (per card) cheers superdave

My original 1990 V8 factory radio still works, but the maximum volume has
significantly dropped over the past year or so and it's just not loud enough
now (why I have no clue).
Does anyone:
1) Know if there's a simple fix for this?
or
2) Have a used replacement radio for sale? (it's the Audi/Bose radio)
