I'll chime in anyway (rhetorical is just a fancy name for a proctology
exam anyway.)
Because there will be no interior parts left in the car if you follow the
convoluted procedure in the manual?  
I'm sure it has something to do with the precision of the original German
it was translated from, There were quite a few things in the first
translation that had to be revised because of language discrepancies.
