[V8] 1993 V8 - will not idle properly

W,

Does the idle change by itself going to different rpms without anything
being touched, or does it "return" to a different idle speed after each time
the throttle is opened?

Ed

W,

Is it possible that the bearings for the throttle rod are corroded and
binding. It is under the intake manifold, runs from the front to the back of
the engine  and is known to get stuck. Can you see if the throttle is free
and working properly?

I have a 1993 V8, 180,000 miles, in very, very good condition. Two days ago
it suddenly started idling high as if the engine has a mind of its own. The
idle will go from 1100 rpm to 2800 on its own.
