During Nemo around 10 pm or so on friday night I decided to take my 1990 V8 out of the garage and into the snow. (i was sober) btw... There was about 15 inches on the ground at that time maybe more. I was able to drive thru the snow with ease going 25 to so mph. It was when i had to slow or stop for other stuck motorists i ran into trouble. I got stuck about 4 times in a period of about 3 hours. During my attempts to drive my way out of theses sticky spots i think i cooked the tranny. A couple hours of shifting from R to 1 to R to 1 and high revs all that good stuff. I noticed the *sound* the next AM when i got up and went to my garage to check car out.
I get a immediate noise which is loudest at cold start from tranny, like a high pitch buzzing that changes with the rpm and sometimes i get the pebble in a tin can sound too. The car operates thru all gears fine and ive been driving it to work this way all week. 20 miles each way. By the time i get it home the sound is all but gone but if i wait a couple hours and start it up the noise is back.
Besides that im a idiot for taking my car out during the worst storm in like 100 years, does anyone have any advice for this. I am NOT getting rid of the car i will put in a tranny if i have to . I just put the 4.2 in about a year ago and have great luck until my silly mishap....
thanks.. Chris 1990 4.2
