Well, as it happens, I think I have sourced one of those rebuilt dealer furnished replacements...if so, I?ll be back to normal with no workarounds needed.

I have had Alpine units in the past, most notably in my Porsche 928 and that one worked great. The shop that did that install even was able to change the color in the display by using some sort of capsules they installed in the faceplate.  Now I guess colors change just by flipping a switch.

I?ve looked at a lot of different kinds of stereo head units and really have found little that work for my purposes. We have very little in the way of FM that we can or will listen to in rural Maine  and travel outside of the state rarely.  We do have a large collection of CD?s which we would play when traveling, but I don?t own an Ipod or any such things other than a casette player that I pluged into the tape slot in the old unit.  Worked extremely well for our purposes so anything more elaborate is not necessary. I guess I need to admit that I have reached the point where I am truly OLD SCHOOL.

As far as asking what Adriana would do? Right now she is somewhere in the hinterlands of extreme eastern Afghanistan and won?t return until......oh, well, now!  I can?t really say an awful lot about that just yet, can I?

Roger
