A little late joining this conversation, but if your (Roger) car uses the
early version Scott D is talking about, with the seperate manifold, it is
available for a resonable price. Just did one on a customer's 100. It did
come with the V-belt clutch, but as Scott mentioned, you can use your clutch
setup on the new compressor. They are completely interchangable. The
manifold bolts right on as well.
I got mine through Compressor Warehouse here in Houston. It was $210 my
cost, IIRC. I don't recall if it was rebuilt or new, but obviously a good be
etiher way.
On the discussion of new vs used, I think you would be foolish to put a used
compressor on your car. Unless it is a known good one, and even then I'd be
hesitant. I won't install a used one for a paying customer, and I don't even
put used ones on my car. That is, unless it's on an engine I'm using to
swap. Even then, if it hasn't been sealed while pulled, it won't be used.
Too much work for a small chance it will last.
HTH,
Tony
