... read the codes from the ECU first.  It could also be the knock sensor our distributor.  Most cars don't have the MIL hooked up, so you couldn't see if you were getting knock or something else ... 

WRT OXS swaps, some might argue that if you replaced the OXS with a factory part it would have made the engine run better too.  My BTDT with a non factory OXS, 3 wire, was that as the car warmed up it would almost die when the computer tried to go closed loop before the sensor was fully warmed up.
