[V8] To Be Continued - I hope not!

Except the v8s use the early standard 3wire sensors, and can use any heater circuit. For any 3 wire application, I too prefer the 4 wire Planer style (vortex tip sampling) 02 sensors. It gives a redundant ground and uses the later more efficient (OBD II) heater design. I've used a wide variety of 02 applications on the v8s over the years, and found they all work as well as factory. Without surprise because there is nothing special about an oxygen sensor except the sampling tip affecting service life, not accuracy in normally aspirated cars.... With the advent of the Planer style sampling, that is no longer an issue in normally aspirated or turbo cars.
I'm with Tony on this, a v8 surging? My first question is when was the 02 last replaced.

... read the codes from the ECU first. It could also be the knock sensor our
distributor. Most cars don't have the MIL hooked up, so you couldn't see if you
were getting knock or something else ...
WRT OXS swaps, some might argue that if you replaced the OXS with a factory part
it would have made the engine run better too. My BTDT with a non factory OXS, 3
wire, was that as the car warmed up it would almost die when the computer tried
to go closed loop before the sensor was fully warmed up.
