[V8] ... reality check

Meh. A car is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. That's
how the market works. I think it's absolutely asinine that new Chevy Tahoes
are north of $70K for a loaded up model. No American car, save for Tesla,
is worth that price. None. Maybe not even half that. But people buy them,
so apparently some people out there are stupid enough to think they're
worth that price. I paid $2000 for my '93 V8 last February, put a little
over $1000 into it, and have a low-mileage German luxobarge that's not seen
every day. It's paid for, it's interesting, and I probably overpaid for it,
but I enjoy it and that's all I really care about. Are they cars for people
on a budget? Probably not. But if you're broke, you shouldn't be looking at
cars that were $60K new to begin with. Stick to a Camry. Though I can't say
that I'd call the V8 any more unreliable than anything else on the road if
you take care of it. I don't know how a car can last 20 years on the road
if they're so unreliable. How many cars from that era do you see on the
road?
