EGR
All 4.2 cars have the EGR electronics fitted as of 1992 - there is a brown connector on each inbound valve cover that has no plug.  The only 4.2 v8 equipped with EGR 'hardware' and used the fitted connectors were 4.2 cars delivered to California dealers 1992>1994.

no such thing.  Urban legend.  Those with Microfiche readers can look it up on the v8 parts fiche.  Bastian has most of his research right.  IIRmicroficheC, late 88 productions carried a 89 MY VIN, and late 93 production (leftovers in the production parking lot I suspect) carried 94 VIN.  Anytime you see large production pools (ala 82 production urqs carrying 83 VIN) it was likely a Sales and Marketing art of tweeking 'production' years to fit a goal/campaign of Model Year.

I bet anyone that claims to be able to document a '95' VIN worldwide would find in an actual production date trace, to have an early (pre May 1994) 94 build date.
