[V8] Sputtering, stalling, and balking

Wasn't running hot. Just hotter than hades outside.
I thought maybe cats, but no cat light on? (It lights up at start up) I unplugged the TPS for fifty miles, but the issue persisted and the trans wouldn't shift to fourth gear?
If I unplug the MAS and or coolant temp sensor, knock sensors will the ECU run on default mode and alleviate the issue? 
She was running like a top the first 200 miles. Issue seemed to disappear briefly at times. I had to keep my foot down to keep her from sputtering.
