[V8] times are a changin...

To recap - my V8 was totaled out by an elderly neighbor a few weeks ago. Since then the insurance adjuster from Statefarm has been trying to come up with a value for my car. He did.

Are you all sitting down?

$6556!

He listened to all the work I did on it, looked at lots of pictures, and in the end that is the number he came up with. I am quite happy with it but believe it or not, NADA book value for a prime specimen was $7900. I suppose I could have held out for that but the adjuster was a super nice guy and I didn’t feel like pushing any harder. I feel he already gave me a very fair price. He could not find any comparable sales so really all there was to go on was NADA and my history of work done.

So - I now have a 2002 Allroad and a brand new Scott Spark mountain bike (both of which cost $3000 oddly enough!) in exchange for my trusty old V8. Not a bad deal in my mind.

btw, the car will be at a auction site pretty soon. If anyone is interested I am sure it will go for nothing - because who in their right mind would buy a working V8 - let alone a totaled one - right? :-)
Shipping will be the problem. It is not drivable. The engine and transmission are still in good shape - as is most of the rest of the car. It was hit in the left rear side.
