[V8] Heater Core

I just did the job on a '90 and had the opposite experience. I had trouble getting the original hoses onto the new core as the new nipples were slightly larger, not a hose size smaller. My "original" (really a replacement by prior Owner) core nipples today are +-0.70"; I didn't measure the new.

443819030 is Etka core number; new box label says "MEYLE Germany # 100 819 0003 (443819030)", and now I see in fine print "Pr of China"! I wish I saw that before. I bot it Oct 2014 from Halsey Imports (Portland, OR 503-256-0182), core lists $143, sold at $60 and I see why. I have to ask them about that as I have bought from them for 30 yrs and have never received an Asian part I am aware of. More fuel for the V8 parts extinction issue I guess as they are/have always been a pro-German made distributor.

Does anybody have any experience with the heater core nipples being to small on the replacement heater core.

I pullled the core out about 2 years ago and I am ready to tackle the job of putting it back together.

I order a supposedly OEM core but the nipples are 5/8 inch and the ones that came out of the car are 3/4 inch.

Every one I see on the internet says 5/8 inch.

The last thing I want to do is put this thing back together and have it leak due to the hose size.


Any suggestions would be appreciated.
