[V8] I'm feeling like a rant about old cars....

Roger -

This thread is so timely. I actually found myself looking at pictures of
L6's last night online (pure coincidence) and reminiscing about the one
that got away. I was often at a charity auction in Manchester, NH right
after college where with my new found job paycheck would go towards buying
"dream" cars, driving them for a few months, and selling them for a small
profit. Most of the time the other buyers were focused on Hondas and
Toyotas, leaving American and European cars as the steals. Over time I
found myself in a 1991 Jeep Cherokee, a 1992 Audi 100 with only 75K miles,
etc and a friend who joined went big with his checkbook (at least the
biggest sale that day I think) bought a near new 1996 A6 for around $6000.

I was there one day to help a friend buy a car and saw an L6 in the main
lot. 60K miles and absolutely perfect in every way. Unfortunately I had
just bought a Saab 9-3 and had a V-8 in the stable and the credit card was
to the limit. The car went for around $6500 but I've never seen something
so well kept. I've had my eye on the car ever since as an affordable
classic.

I also think about getting an early 90s 325i convertible. Of course to
make any of this happen I need to get a place where I can put these cars.
Like you, for me its V8 first (which I am so glad to have today), and then
I'll get around to these other dream cars.
