[V8] Missing My V8

Guys,
It's been a long time, but I continue to read V8 posts when they appear, to remain "in the loop", so to speak.
I currently no longer have a usable V8, so I'm kinda like a druggie going through widthdrawal, not that I know first hand what that's like, but well, you know what I mean.
I sold my very nice V8 5-speed which I sorted out over time, and used as a daily driver for a few years, to a nice young enthusiast who was trying to learn the trade. I haven't heard from him in over a year, so I have to assume that his love affair with the car continues.
I still do however have a 92 V8 automatic that I picked up years ago as a donor car, for the engine, and a lot of nice other parts the previous owner put into the car: H&R springs, rear s-car subframe and rear sway bar, custom nade one piece driveshaft, custom made true dual exhaust, braided steel brake hoses, properly chipped PCM, etc, the engine ran strong (I drove it before acquiring it), and the previous owner is a great wrench, so I know it was well cared for. I also purchased a correct, tested euro manual Trans 4.2L PCM in anticipation of swapping that engine into my 5-speed car. I never did, so I still have this car sitting dormant. It's my only V8 currently.
The plan is to acquire an Avant, and create a V8 Avant, engine, sheet metal and all. I know, I'm weird (you have to be to own one of these cars - no disrespect intended, so I speak for myself only) but I just like wagons!
My take is regardless of how you slice it, the V8 is NOT a racecar, although the DTMs were a respectable bunch. They are however a very, very nice performing sedan, from every perspective.
So, my feeble mind says add the utility, and rare oddness of the Avant body, to the benefits of the V8 engine, and the additional beauty of the V8 nose, and with just a bit of hot rodding, I believe I'll have a very nice sleeper that will be just a really cool car. I know of only one other that was done, and I'm not sure of its whereabouts, but I know that one retained it's 5-speed, as all Avant had.
I initially thought of going that route, but to make the car even better, I may just graft the automatic into it so it really is "one of a kind". Besides, the automatic performs better anyway (when I drove the sedan that the engine resides in now, I could not believe the difference - they certainly got THAT ZF right as the difference in acceleration from the 5-speed was notable). Besides, like I said, it's not a race car, and I'm not going to be taking it out on a road course like VIR, so the automatic just makes good sense. (I know some of you are rolling your eyes right now, but hey, this it what makes the world go round, different strokes, for different folks)
Anyway, to fund this project, I have to sell my 300D. I had it up at S-Fest years ago. It's an '85 300D turbo with a Greasecar conversion that has served me well. If you know anyone .......
I have located what I believe is a suitable candidate Avant, but I have yet to go inspect it. I plan to do that this month.
Thoughts?
