I'm convinced that the problems on my pearl cat are due to contact issues in the connector on the wiring loom. My plan is to install longer pins on the board in the IC & hope for the best ...
Some day ...
Of course if sometime wanted to make me an offer on two factory '91 5-speeds ...

Started out with the oil pressure gauge pegged on the high side. This was
back in like January.
Then the fuel gauge started not reading properly when under a half tank.
Then the temp gauge started reading too high, affecting the operation of
the electric cooling fan.
I pulled the cluster today thinking I could just take it apart and resold
some pins, forgetting that the design was changed.
I did some cleaning of pins etc with DeOxit, reassembled and went for a
test drive.
The oil psi gauge was still pegged but the other gauges seemed to operate
properly. Then not, but not as badly as before.
I sat in the driveway and let it idle and unplugged/plugged the black
connector in the back of the cluster.
At one pint the oil psi gauge popped back to a normal reading. It hasn't
done that for months. I revved the engine and it responded appropriately.
I messed with the connector again and couldn't reproduce... the gauge
remained pegged.
This is when I quit for the day.
Feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Ed
