chains in back - PITA to fix I hear. Requires pulling the whole motor. Actually almost everything requires pulling the motor/trans.
T/C is good until its bad - I think. Mine just turned on the MIL lamp but still drove fine. I replaced mine myself. Big job to pull the motor/trans but the part was cheap. it is possible to do in your garage........ but it is a BIG JOB!
Airbag light on is not common as far as I know. need to run diagnostics. Actually need to do that anyway if you are thinking of buying.
It is my impression that the 2.7L is the way to go. motors are quite durable but do have their own special issues. I really like mine. If you can get the V8 cheap, and it is in great shape, and you can do the chains yourself, it may be the way to go - but plan on needing to do this at some point.
