You may be pleasantly surprised. After I got rid of my A4 wagon (my last Audi), I picked up a 2006 Grand Cherokee wagon, V8 and available 4WD Low. I’ve put over 20,000 miles on it in the last 2 years with no troubles; it’s at 165K now. It rides and handles unlike a Jeep, and is quiet on the highway (thanks, Mercedes). When I took it in for inspection, it passed. My Audis would cost $1000-1500 in repairs to get past inspection. Yesterday, my Wrangler plow got stuck going down hill to the barn. I pulled it out with the GC and a tow strap, using 4WD Low. It didn’t flinch. You may find similar joy with the Cadillac.
You may want to check out the SRX - it’s a CTS in SUV form. It may give you a hint to what the wagon would be like. It may make you say, “This is good enough."
