Any figures on how much oil is actually available- that is, what isn't used for
dust control and that kind of thing?
I know it's a lot, but would there really be enough to produce a nation's worth
of fuel?

Yes, I agree.  However the days of having to pay to get it hauled away will
soon stop.  I used to have to pay handsomely to have waste oil disposed of
"properly".  I quit that when I found out they were just dropping it off at the
local landfill (I guess they dug a "proper" hole first). Now, my waste oil is
worth 7 cents a litre to me, and they will come to my yard and pick it up.
 There is a used oil refinery set up at Humbolt Sask driving this market.
 Demand creates value, now my used oil has value, as will used fryer oil when
it has a use beyond the hobby level. Gotta get into this early if you want to
get good return on investment, before the government sets up a plant (well, at
least around here they would, some dirty rotten free enterprising businessman
might make money at it, can't have that).
