Actually, from 1993 through 1997, Canada sold a
different line of "crap." My 1997 Jetta Turbo Diesel
had a 1.9 litre turbocharged IDI engine under the hood
(the same variety that Hayden installed in his 1985
Jetta, which I bought and recently sold after my
automatic transmision project went sour). A hell of an
engine, in both the Canadian and American Jettas. Top
speed was 126 MPH on the freeway.

So much for Canadian "crap."
