[Vwdiesel] Black smoke - low power

  First off, what pump are you running?  AFIK the lowest timing setting of
ANY VW diesel pump is .88.  At .85 you're slow already.  An 82 engine's
pump has a timing in the 90's I believe.  Be sure you set the timing with
the advance lever (at the pump) fully against it's non-advanced stop.  If
you're unsure of what pump you have post the numbers here or check
the page I have up.  Uhhh, anyone have the address handy?  :o
  Using a slow glow relay with fast plugs is a good way to burn out glow
plugs.  BTDT!  Fast relays are cheap anymore (If you can't find one under
$25 let me know!)  I think they're under $20 but I'd have to check.
