Yes indeedy, good description, thanks Bill.
The Saskatoon Dealer has the same history as yours Brian.  They are doing
all they can to get diesels, trading the gassers off to other dealers where
diesels sell less easily.  I'm FINALLY starting to hear VW adverts that laud
the diesel as efficient and economical while being a real car, not a little
shitebox.  They are using the published mileage standards from transport
Canada, being 64ish mpg IIRC for the Golf.  Buddy that sells there sez they
have no trouble selling the car once the buyer takes it for a ride- in most
cases, they can't get the torque induced grin off their faces.  Diesel is
indeed making headway as consumer accepted vehicle. I've talked to at least
three NB owners that wish they would have bought it in TDI trim rather than
gasser.
