I have a similar problem now w/ a recent project that came to me.  Diesel
powered car that hasn't run for 7 years.  FWIW, I get rid of old/dirty diesel
fuel by mixing it in w/ used motor oil & 90wt. going to oil recycling.  I
figure that the old diesel fuel probably cuts the old 90wt. to the
consistency of modern 5W30.  sometimes I have to ration it out over a couple
of trips to recycling if I have several gallons of old fuel.  Also, in my
county there is a "recycling department" at the county waste management
office.  They have helped me dispose of old gasoline, pesticides, etc.,
safely & cheap.
