[Vwdiesel] need diagnosis

I have a clunk after putting the car (85 jetta diesel NA) in gear and accel=
erating.  Mainly after I put her in 1st and first start to move.  The clunk=
 comes from the left front.  I checked the driveshaft/CV joints and they ar=
e solid.  I am at a loss on this one?
