[Vwdiesel] Getting rid of an air pocket

That's an OK strategy, if you don't mind taking the rear bracket off the
power steering pump, and all that comes with it. On my 91, I pull the
lower hose off the radiator. It doesn't get everything, but it saves
allot of time.
Nate, don't go with the generic thermostat. Learn from my experience and
buy a quality one with a beefy rivet on the plate serving as a valve at the
rear of the thermostat.

ps: As for burping the cooling system, I've tried pulling one of the sensors
in the plastic flange at the front of the cylinder head. It let allot of
coolant out, but I always found that running the system through a couple
of hot/cold cycles with RPMs on the engine, cleared things. I think the
heater core may be higher in the system than those sensors.
