I assume there's a factory tach available, and can't imagine why the
designers thought anyone would rather know the time than what revs they're
at, particularly with a 5-speed trans!


  Factory did put them in some (most?) TD Jettas.  The pump is high limit
governed so I doubt "they" care if you know what rpm you're doing.  ;-)
  Ebay, wrecking yard or possibly dealer if you're that rich.
