You are not alone. I have been using Fram's since 1976 in my golf and
then jetta. The jetta is at 200k miles and doing fine. I have more
issues with oil than I do the filter.

Fram had some well publicized problems with one batch of filters many
years back which could not hold the pressure, but no problems since. But
that incident seems to have formed the database.

Also Consumer Reports listed them the best filter.
