[Vwdiesel] Injection pump setting?...curtains

After 5 weeks of waiting, I've got my 82 diesel vanagon back with a newer
1.6NA.  It's quieter, doesn't leak or blowby oil anymore...but it's still
slow (of course).  Problem is, it seems slower than before!

The previous owner had mentioned something about having the injection pump
retarded or something when he took it for emissions, then put back
(advanced) afterwards.  I never thought about this much, but as this
replacement engine also has a replacement pump, I'm wondering if it is set
right (or for optimal power).

I believe my mechanic did the timing (0.92 something on the pump) so it is
stock.  Is there some setting on the pump I can utilise to provide slightly
more power?  If so, what is it?  Is it in the Bentley?

PS. Somebody helped themselves to my curtains while the van was at the
mechanic's.  Mine's an ASI camper.  Anyone know where I can get a
replacement set?  The thieves also broke the plastic rods.  I'm wondering if
Westy curtins would work too?  I guess they would with the Westy runners.
Are curtains easy to make?  Where does one buy the runners, poppers, etc.
